My Approach

Learn more about the therapeutic theories and approaches in which I am trained and experienced, and which I use in both couples and individual therapy settings.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Bonding is at the core of so many issues that arise in relationships, or among individuals experiencing depression, trauma, and other mental health issues. Exploring deep bonds and emotional connections is an essential part of EFT, a central piece of my approach to couples, relationship, and individual therapy.

Dialectical Behavioral Theory (DBT)

Our ability to regulate our responses to the world around us, from the people we encounter to the situations we find ourselves in on a daily basis, is an essential part of our mental health. DBT provides an effective approach to handling “emotional surges” with more control, thus helping to address mental health issues such as suicidal thoughts, PTSD, and others.

Mindfulness

How you think and how you feel are two things so closely connected. As part of mindfulness therapy, I will teach you disentangle yourself from negative thought patterns through techniques such as meditation and breathing. You’ll be equipped with the information and perspective to identify and address negative feelings before they become unhealthy and pervasive.

Attachment Theory

Addressing early-life attachments to parents and other caregivers can be a very effective method for identifying and addressing current issues around trust, insecurity, and relationships. This is the central tenet of attachment theory, a core piece of my own approach to therapy and mental wellness for this reason.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Negative thoughts contribute significantly to one’s mental health. The thing is, we all have them! So, where do they originate and how do we handle them when they do arise? Throughout my years as a therapist, I’ve found cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to be quite effective in helping people identify and regulate negative thoughts.
